    HIGH GLOSS PAINT CORRECTION

    A Premium Machine Polishing Service

Every new vehicle leaves the factory with a perfectly applied layer of shiny paint. From the first time it is driven, damage to the paint begins to collect. You may spot new scratches on your vehicle all the time without any idea of how they could have gotten there. Scratches and swirls can occur from debris on the roads. Bird droppings, leaves, tree sap, and twigs falling down from trees on vehicles left on the street can also damage paint. High gloss paint correction can correct the swirls and scratches that make your car look old.

    From the Start

    What We Do

We use a 2 to 4 stage high gloss paint correction system that combines high-gloss machine polishing with the application of top-quality paint protection products. We are specialists at removing imperfections from vehicle paint. Our multi-stage process allows us to remove damage that goes below the surface to prevent problems from occurring later on.

Blemishes to the paint do more than just make your vehicle look bad. Any damage that occurs to the finish makes the metal below more susceptible to rust and worse damage. Our process targets deep scratches and swirls and removes roughness and oxidation before it can grow. The finished product will have a high-gloss finish that often looks and performs better than the factory finish.

When we perform a paint correction, we get started at 7:00 am. The process begins with a 2 bucket 60 minute wash and rinse which include the wheels. The next step is to remove any surface contamination takes about 30 to 60 minutes. We blow dry the entire car which takes about 30 minutes and then cover (masking up) any areas that the buffer might damage approx 30min to 1 hour. The entire preparation usually takes about 3 hours. Somewhere in all this we measure the paint thickness for a base line.

Removing Scratches 1 to 3 stages

We start the scratch-removal process by using the most aggressive compound needed while preserving as much of the existing paint as possible. We never remove more paint than needed to prevent it from becoming too thin. This step of the process usually takes between 4 and 30 hours, depending on the amount of damage. Usually 15 hours

Removing Buff Marks, Swirls, & Haze 1 to 3 stages

During this step of the process, we use a finer polishing compound and apply them with softer pads. This allows us to remove the different types of marks that are confined to the surface. This step will remove only a very minimal amount of the paint. This step of the process can take anywhere from 4 and 16 hours. Usually 5 hours

How much to put a coat of polish on?

Paint Correction vs “Buff Polish” or “Cut Polish”

Paint Correction is an international trade term. Sometimes people use the terms “buff polish” or “cut polish” instead. These terms have a similar meaning to paint correction, but they produce a lower quality result.

A “quick buff”, “buff polish”, or “cut polish” all describe a less-intensive process. It may remove some scratches, yet it does not compare to the quality of workmanship we provide with our high gloss paint correction process. When we restore and renew your vehicle, we apply the highest quality workmanship process. After completion, you will not see the buff marks or buffing swirls and holograms that are left behind from a “buff polish.” To polish is the same to buff the paint. Polishing is an action not a protective sealant. Polish is a compound that offers some for of cut from extreme hardcore grit down to the ultra fine nano demishing compounds which all in one way polish the surface. If you want to protect your car then you apply a wax or a sealant which in today's market is usually a crystalising ceramic coating. Carbon coatings with or with silica is nothing more than a basic old fashioned sealant that does not harden or crystalise and form a hard solid state takes years to break down

🎯 Paint Correction – Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@autofxperth.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Paint correction is a professional "Art of Polishing" process of removing surface defects from your vehicle’s paint, such as swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and haze. Using specialised machines, polishing compounds, and techniques, we carefully refine the clear coat to restore a deep, glossy finish.

Waxing is a temporary solution that provides a protective layer to your car's exterior. Ceramic coating, on the other hand, is a long-lasting solution that provides a more durable layer of protection against environmental factors.

A cut and polish is usually a quicker, more aggressive process that removes defects but can leave micro-marring or holograms if not performed correctly. True paint correction is a precise, multi-stage process that fully levels defects and finishes to a higher standard, often followed by paint protection or ceramic coating.

Paint correction can safely remove most swirl marks, light to moderate scratches, and oxidation. However, deep scratches that have penetrated too deep into the clear coat may be reduced but not completely eliminated. We’ll always advise what’s realistically achievable.

Depending on the condition of your paint and the level of correction needed, the process can take anywhere from 4 hours (single-stage enhancement) to 2 3 full days or more (multi-stage correction). We’ll assess your vehicle in person and give you an accurate timeframe.

Yes—proper paint correction is essential before applying a ceramic coating. The coating locks in the finish, so any scratches or dull areas left untreated will remain visible under the protective layer. A corrected surface also ensures the best bond and maximum durability.

Pricing depends on your vehicle size, paint condition, and the level of correction required. At AutoFX WA, single-stage paint enhancement starts from $450, while multi-stage paint correction can range from $900 to $2,000+. We provide tailored quotes after inspecting your vehicle.

We recommend regular safe washing (two-bucket method), using pH-neutral shampoos, and applying a ceramic coating or sealant for ongoing protection. We also offer maintenance detailing packages to help keep your paint looking flawless.

Absolutely. We have experience correcting delicate, soft paints on classic cars, European luxury vehicles, and performance cars. Every vehicle is assessed individually to choose the safest and most effective approach.
